When a child goes missing the amount of resources that authorities use is substantial. Abduction cases are taken very seriously by all of the parties involved. None more so than by Chase Grant, a detective in Seattle’s eighteenth precinct. The clock starts the moment he gets the call from a parent, and the first twelve hours are crucial. Every move counts, and every choice matters. If he missteps, then a child might not come home. But today was different. He got a call about a missing child. And then another, and another, and another…

I detest books without an ending. I should have read the reviews on this one and if I had, I never would have bought it. If an author doesn't have enough confidence in his/her work to complete a book, I refuse to be blackmailed into buying another to learn how ends. Nope. Won't do it. If this book had an ending, chances are very good I would have bought more from this author. And much as I want to know how it all ends, I refuse to be forced into it. Authors, get a clue! Believe in your work and write a book! A book...it ends, got it? Stop trying to con readers into buying your work. All it does is irritate them and lead to poor reviews. I would have given this book a higher rating, but it's not a book; it's an unfinished story.

Deadly Webs Trapped Book 1 edition by James Hunt Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Oh how easy it is to get caught up in the plot of this book! I enjoyed reading it. The only thing that was missing is it wasn't long enough and I don't know what happened to some of the characters at the end. Hopefully though the next book will tell me. I recommend this book to anyone who likes detective stories.
The two books in the series are enough to keep you reading, although the plots are somewhat predictable. What kept me reading both books was the two main characters & the insight into loss & grieving. As someone who has taught on death, dying, grief & loss; I was impressed by an underlying wisdom about these things. Good read. Not great literature, but I'll read the next one because I've come to care about the characters.
It was a good read . kept moving without lot of explanations to slow down the unfolding of the story. I was glad more of the background on Mocks and Grant was added. I am not fond of cliff hangers per sec but I will look for the next installment. The story subject was interesting. Thank for not including a lot of foul language, which usually distracts from the story line.
Make sure you read Book 0 before you start this book, but have them BOTH handy, because you will go from 0 to 1 without stopping inbetween! Yes, it is that good. The hero is likable, a cop who likes what he does. He's smart smart enough to know that when he's done training his female partner, she will be better than he is. Considering how good he is, I cannot wait to keep reading this series. You will LOVE the hero, he's likable, and he does something we can all appreciate. Great author!
The cops use procedures that would get any evidence thrown out of court. They intentionally risk themselves and others, even though there are safer actions they can take.

[SPOILER]
And the main character intentionally shoots a kidnapper, knowing the victims are still being held by the kidnappers accomplices, leading to the death of all of the victims. To make matters worse, the police supervisors leave the main character on the job, rather than taking his gun and badge like they should.
[END SPOILER]

There isn't even an ending. Nothing is wrapped up. The book just ends with a lead-in to the next book in the series.
Good engaging story line. However I like a book to have a conclusion. The story line can continue in next book without leaving the reader unsatisfied. I am unsatisfied
I just read PART of a book! All I ask of authors and publishers is to tell the reader when the story is a cliffhanger! That is not asking too much; then, I, the reader, can see if the rest of the book is already for sale so I can make an informed decision. If the rest of the story is not available as in this case, I do NOT want to read the first part! A book should have a beginning, middle, and end! Sometimes the reader ends up paying a lot just to get the rest of the story; that just seems like a gimmick and I don't appreciate being manipulated. Some readers like cliffhangers; I'm not one of them.

If you like cliffhangers, this is a doozy! Two detectives in Seattle are looking for pre-teen girls who have been carefully selected for kidnapping by pedophiles. There is also a group in the area doing sex trafficking called the "Web" and they are beyond vicious! The writing is fast-paced and the storyline is dark! Both detectives are interesting and likable.
